A Living Organism
This project was partly produced as a final-year thesis project in my Master of Architecture program at Singapore University of Technology and Design.
A Living Organism explores tools such as fiction, infrastructure, and integrated hybrid systems, in an attempt to imagine new socio-ecological assemblages for humanity at the mercy of climate change. Using Mekong Delta as a testing bed, the project imagines a new system of living that empowers marginalised communities who are at the threshold of climate change. Foremerly a leading rice exporter in Southeast Asia, Mekong Delta faces issues of salinity intrusion and sea level rise, threatening their productivity. Yet building upon the foundations of aquaculture, aquaponics and water desalination, there is a potential future in which this community becomes the pioneers of a climate revolution.
This narrative is told through a series of digital drawings, collages and comic-style illustrations.
